Culture Groups!

Every Friday everyone from years 5 - 8 go to their culture groups to practice their traditional dances. There are four groups and they are Tonga, Samoa, Maori and Cook Island. I'm in the Tongan group.

We are doing two dances. One is called the Sipi Tau. The Sipi Tau is the rugby league haka for The Mate Maa Tonga Rugby League Team.
The other dance is Kailao. The Kailao is a warrior stick dance that tells what happened in World War II. My favorite dance is the Kailao because it shows how strong and fierce we are.

Armistice Day Presentation!

last week we did a slideshow about Armistice Day.

We were split into groups and my partners were Riiana, Konzay and Mary. First we made a slideshow and we asked questions like "what is Armistice Day". We did a lot of research about Armistice Day and I really learn't a lot about it. It was very interesting.

Making Nachos!(Technology)

Today we went to tech at Tamaki School. When we were there we were split into groups with the St Pius students. After that we put our apron on and washed our hands. Well we were sitting and waiting, Mrs Tuipulotu told us to get out our equipment. After that she gave us the ingredients to use for cooking.

After all that we put it on our plate and then Mrs Tuipulotu came and gave us the chips and cheese. When we were done we took a photo of it and then we ate it. It was so devious that I couldn't finish it all so I took it home.

Teko Teko!

Last week for art we had to draw a Teko Teko. A Teko Teko is a Maori word for a  carved human form (either the whole body or head), either freestanding or attached to the gable of a whare (house).

While we were drawing our teacher showed us an example from the year 8 from last year.  Minzin's drawing was by far the best. When we finished drawing it Mr Reid stapled it on the wall. On Friday I received a Principal's Award for the Teko Teko. I was so contented.

😀Baking Chocolate chip muffins!!😮

Today we went in a bus to Tamaki collage to do some cooking. When we were there, we had to put on aprons so we don't get our uniform dirty. After that we had to wash our hands with soap. When it was time to cook everyone sat in their seats with their buddies. My buddy was Alexandra. When we sat down our cooking teacher, Mrs Tuipulotu. She told us that we are baking chocolate chip muffins. We were excited! After that she told us the ingredients. Then she told us to grab out our bowls and things we need to make the muffins. We grabbed our ingredients and put it in a bowl and mixed it together. When we finished putting all the ingredients in the bowl, we put it in our trays and then we put in our oven and set our heat up to 180 degrees. After a few minutes it came out like this. When we tasted it, it tasted yum like chocolate. When we came back to Ruapotaka School we went to room 3 and we ate our muffins there!
