Drawing! (Tech)

Today we arrived at Tamaki Collage and we are doing graphics. Graphics is drawing and things related to art. We were put into groups. One of the St.Pius students did a prayer for us to thank the lord/god for giving us this day.

Afterwards we start drawing our names in a graffiti or 3rd style. I picked lots of styles for different letters in my name. I did lots of graffiti letters because it looked so cool. It was so fun!

Teko Teko!

Last week for art we had to draw a Teko Teko. A Teko Teko is a Maori word for a  carved human form (either the whole body or head), either freestanding or attached to the gable of a whare (house).

While we were drawing our teacher showed us an example from the year 8 from last year.  Minzin's drawing was by far the best. When we finished drawing it Mr Reid stapled it on the wall. On Friday I received a Principal's Award for the Teko Teko. I was so contented.

My Cherry Blossom Tree!

When we did art we had to make a blossom tree so we had to paint a piece of paper with yellow, blue and green to make the sky, sun and the grass. After that we had to grab a piece of paper and use a straw to blow the black paint on our paper. When we were done we took our own paper with our painting on it and did the same. When we finished we had to use some pink paint, red paint, purple paint and white paint to dab our finger in and put it on our piece of paper. It looked like the pink flowers on the tree. When we were finished we had to take a photo of our cherry blossom tree.

Making clay pizza

We are learning about fractions this term.  To remember and think about what we already know, we made sausage roll and pizza with clay. We divided our shapes into fractions.  Each piece was the same size. Then, we made some pizza toppings for a whole pizza.  We shared them out on our pizza.  Each quarter of my pizza had the same number of toppings.
